EBC IS SEEKING A FULL TIME PASTOR

to lead and disciple our congregation in a Christ-centered, Bible-based ministry. The Pastor will serve as the shepherd of our congregation by being the primary preacher and spiritual leader.

Emmanuel Baptist Church is located in Berea, Ky. We are a KJV Bible based conservative Southern Baptist church which believes the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Believers baptism by immersion is practiced and we emphasize a personal conversion of being born again.

Emmanuel Baptist Church is seeking a full time Pastor to lead and disciple our congregation in a Christ-centered, Bible-based ministry. The Pastor will serve as the shepherd of our congregation by being the primary preacher and spiritual leader

The Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, teach the Bible, engage in pastoral care ministries, and provide oversight of all areas of church life as well as deacons and committees.


The responsibilities of the Pastor may be outlined in terms of his primary biblical roles as follows:

  • Elder/Overseer: the principal leader and vision caster of the church. (Acts 20:28; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4)
  • Evangelist: models the practice of personal evangelism and ensures that the church is challenged and equipped to be obedient to the Great Commission. (II Timothy 4:5; Matthew 28:19)
  • Shepherd: models the heart of the Chief Shepherd and ensures the church is well led, cared for, and protected. (Acts 20:28; I Peter 5:1-4)
  • Preacher/Teacher: the principal communicator of God’s Word in public worship and ensures the Church is growing to maturity in Christ. (Acts 6:4; Ephesians 4:11; II Timothy 4:1-4; Titus 1:9)
  • Oversee and lead outreach and pastoral care eƯorts, including biblical counseling, visiting members of the church and non-members of the community, performing weddings, conducting funeral services and other church ceremonies.
  • Cooperate with and support the work of Southern Baptist missions and cooperative programs. Keep congregation informed about ministry, prayer needs, events and/or opportunities via email, social media, mailings, etc.

  • The Pastor will be a man called of God and set apart to the gospel ministry, in theological agreement with the ‘Baptist Faith and Message’ of 1963. The Pastor must be a man who exemplifies a godly character, is compassionate toward others, and demonstrates a high level of competence.
  • Called by the Holy Spirit and confirmed by a body of believers through ordination (or in the process of becoming ordained). (Acts 20:28; Titus 1:5; I Timothy 3:1)
  • Equip, educate, and edify the church. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
  • Will conform himself to scriptural ministry expectations. (I Thessalonians 5:12-13)
  • Lead by example alongside church leadership. (I Peter 5:1-3)
  • Exercise biblical authority and carry out a Christian witness. (Hebrews 13:17; II Timothy 4:1-5)
  • Meets biblical pastoral qualifications. (I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
  • Previous pastoral/ministry experience (preferred)
  • Seminary or Bible College degree (preferred)

Salary and benefits will be discussed with the finance committee and will be based on experience and education level.
